Tekeyla Friday is Métis author, artist, storyteller and cultural educator. She has had nineteen years of experience in Library Services as the Children's Program Co-Ordinator for the Chinook Regional Library. She is currently taking a diploma course in Social Media Marketing through Sundance College. Tekeyla was taught to love and embrace her Métis heritage and she is a proud Métis woman. Through a rough time in her life, she designed the Métis STEM/STEAM program because she loves programming and loves sharing knowledge and her own culture with children.
Tekeyla Friday is author of Prince Prickly Spine, her first middle grade novel. She is actively working on the second book, Prince Steed and another one called Hunter Thorne Log. Along with her rich imagination, sense of humour and artistic talent, Tekeyla loves telling stories. She took up claymation in 2017, inspired by Barbra Reid's books. Tekeyla teaching plasticine and Stop-motion animation art workshops to students. Tekeyla believes that the best way to learn is through books and STEM/STEAM activities that tie into the books students have read. Sharing her cultural knowledge and stories assists the next generation in Truth and Reconciliation.
