About me
Samara Jackson nitisiyihkāson. ninēhiyaw-ayisiyinīwin. Oskana kā-asastēki ochi niya. Nikakwē-nēhiyawān. As a member of Cowessess First Nation, I have always felt the need to share my knowledge and experience as I grow with the people around me. As a former teacher, with a focus in art and music, Indigenous language and culture was an important part of what I brought to the classroom and now bring to Saskatchewan public libraries. I take care of the Indigenous Languages Collection and share ideas with public libraries on how they can bring Indigenous programming to their public libraries, big and small.
My focus is on assisting on the reclamation of Indigenous languages by providing free resources through public libraries. From Cree language kits to Indigenous language dictionaries in public libraries to programming ideas and resources through the LibGuide; the aim is to make this programming and language development easy to set up and run.
