About me
Julia Byrnes trained as a computer hardware technician during the initial phase of desktop computers. After 18 years working in Vancouver and progressing to Network Analyst she left computing and went to work with dogs. Running her own training and dog daycare business for five years she found herself with a broken ankle and unable to do the same physical work. She entered into semi-retirement and found herself moving to Saskatchewan for cheaper housing and a quieter pace of life. Looking for something part-time she landed at Lafleche Library late in 2023. After a bit of a bumpy start she worked hard on transforming the library and learning the culture of the area. She has been working hard to provide programming for the library. In 2025 she won three SLA grants and one SaskCulture grant, and also held several other programs funded by either individual organizations or the library itself. The need for innovative programming has led her to today’s topic.
