Darlene Brander is the President of the Saskatchewan Indigenous Cultural Centre (SICC), an organization dedicated to protecting, preserving, and promoting the languages and cultures of the eight First Nations language groups of Saskatchewan: Plains Cree, Swampy Cree, Woodland Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakoda, and Lakota.
A proud member of the Red Earth Cree Nation, Darlene has over 25 years of leadership experience in human resources, governance, and executive management, including five years as a nonprofit CEO. She now leads SICC’s efforts to strengthen First Nations knowledge systems and builds community capacity through culturally grounded programs, initiatives and strategic partnerships. Her leadership is guided by the belief that language and culture is the foundation of strong, vibrant and dynamic First Nations.
